A Scalable LMS for a Growing Organisation – the story of Finsiders
Finsiders provides customised financial expertise, temporary support, and guidance for transformation projects to companies in Belgium. They are part of the Lifeworx Group, an organisation that offers training opportunities for Finance, HR, and Digital professionals. With a growing community and increasing demand for specialised learning, they required a robust and scalable learning management system (LMS) to support their needs.

The challenge
Finsiders has partnered with The Learning Hub for years. After being acquired by Lifeworx Group, they needed a new LMS to scale and manage multiple subsidiaries under one system. Their key requirements included:
- A seamless integration with their website to present their extensive training portfolio attractively.
- A multi-tenant structure that allowed different subsidiaries to maintain their branding while sharing knowledge and expertise.
- A way to provide employees with structured career development insights.

The solution
Finsiders originally switched from Learn365 to Totara Learn Professional in 2021. Totara Learn Professional offered Finsiders the chance to modernize their courses and increase interactivity, all while avoiding significant extra investments.
After almost a year, they aimed to improve further by integrating with their website and moved to Totara Learn. A seamless connection with their website allows both internal and external learners to explore and enrol in over 300 training courses in fields such as accountancy, soft skills, Office365 and payroll. This results in more than 1.000 course completions each year.

Totara Learn also provided the opportunity to use different tenants, which was essential once Finsiders was part of the Lifeworx Group. Now every suborganisation receives a unique LMS experience while allowing shared access to relevant courses. This makes it easier for the L&D officer to share courses efficiently within the various companies but also provides the opportunity to provide personalised training material for one specific suborganisation.
After making use of a free trial, they were convinced and decided to add Totara Perform to their learning platform. . By implementing Totara Perform, the organisation gained powerful tools to track competencies and provide career development insights to employees. Goals are used to track objectives and key results within the organisation. These goals are addressed in recurring ‘grow meetings’, facilitated by Totara’s performance activities. This step-by-step migration ensured a smooth transition while functionality was continuously improved. External students, employees, trainers and admins have gradually become familiar with the platform and have been introduced to additional Totara functionalities.
Since Totara Learn has added new possibilities for peer learning and knowledge sharing (previously included in Totara Engage), they are now exploring how they can utilise these new possibilities within their organisation to further improve collaboration, such as the integration of Totara within MS Teams.

The result
The adoption of Totara has significantly improved the Lifeworx’s learning ecosystem, resulting in:
- Increased Learning Engagement: The different activity types in Totara provided the necessary tools to Lifeworx to modernise their learning offer. The pathway course format further improved the learner experience, providing the learner a clear overview of their course progress.
- Scalability & Flexibility: The organisation can now efficiently manage multiple suborganisations under a single LMS, ensuring consistency while maintaining individuality for each company. Employees are presented with their company’s branding but also have access to relevant courses offered by sister companies.
- Enhanced Career Development: With Totara Perform, employees have a clearer view of their competencies and career growth paths. Each employee has access to their personal competency profile which shows a general overview of all competencies that are required for their position. The profile also includes an indication of their current level. Business and personal goals are added to the system to define a clear career path.
- Streamlined Training Access: The improved website integration has made course discovery more intuitive, boosting learner engagement.
By leveraging the different features of Totara, Lifeworx Group has built a future-proof learning and development environment that will continue to grow alongside their organisation.
